*When entering the Crane District you waiver your life to the peacekeepers.

Subjects

We work for your protection. Follow the law, obey our commands, and pay your respect.

Criminals

Punishments within the Crane District are swift and harsh. The profitability of crime is currently at -60%, and our clearance rate is at an all-time high. We have spies everywhere. You will get caught, you will regret it, and you will be sorry.

Adventurers

We tolerate your kind. BUT! Do not interfere with justice nor attempt to carry it out yourself.

Crane Mercenary Battalion

“We are Always Watching You”

Elven mercenaries line-up. Peacekeeper, truthmaker, legion, and bathwatch. The four main branches of the elven guard.

Get to know the Crane federation Mercenaries

Shown above are some variants of mercenary fashion, from the iconic black gambeson to the full plate of the legion. The Crane Federation spares no expense on high quality equipment in the pursuit of justice and peace. Also available in male sizes.

Peacekeeper

The peacekeepers are what subjects, such as yourself, will interact with most often; they patrol the streets of the district and, as their name implies, keep the peace. They guard the district, chase down thieves, break up fights, and investigate reported crimes. Do not interfere when they carry out justice.
If you are looking for a career as a mercenary, this will likely be your first assignment after completing the mandatory 30 years of combat, fitness, and law training.

Combat prowess: Adept.

Truthmaker

The truthmakers are not only a more heavily armed division of the guard, but one with broader powers to enforce the law. Their role is to protect the federation from threats, both from within and without the city. They consist of judges, bookkeepers, detectives, and spies that keep a closer eye on subjects and enemies. You will find them at all gates, bridges, stairs, and lifts into the district or between the wards. But anyone you meet could be a truthmaker out of their armor.

Combat prowess: Advanced.

Legion

The Legionnaires are the iron fist of the federation. Specialized in warfare, they are the first line of defense and offence. A yet-unbeaten force that have taken the Cranes from an unknown family to one of the major players in a mere hundred years.
They guard the Tower-Ward, the palace, as well as the Crane siblings. And in times of peace many of them are assigned to other positions but are always ready to don their armor when needed.

Combat prowess: Expert.

Bathwatch

Guarding the bathhouse might seem like a trivial job, but the Elizeium bathwatch has actually become one of the most sought-after positions in the guard due to the relatively easy work, free snacks, and other benefits of the bath. And as peacetime assignments are based on rank, the bathwatch is absolutely full of veteran legionnaires and bloodmages, making the bathwatch, unexpectedly, one of the most elite fighting forces on the entire Red Coast.

Combat prowess: Extraordinary.

The Law

The Law is absolute.
The Law is final.
The Law is us.

A sample of Laws you should remember:
Crime is illegal.

  • Obey the guard and pay respect (and taxes).
  • Always carry your insignia or papers.
  • Do not spread propaganda portraying Arwel in a neutral or positive light.
  • Wash before bathing (behind the ears, too).
  • Do not litter (or die) on federation land.
  • Do not be a selfish snuggler (not actually illegal, just rude).

Rank & insignia

Each mercenary displays their allegiance with the monogram of the Crane sibling they serve on their shoulder. Their rank is also shown by a series of metal buttons on the insignia. Some higher-ranking positions are also indicated by red gambeson and feather helmets.

Unofficial guards

Please note that many establishments in the city hire their own guards, not associated with the Crane Federation. These guards are still allowed to uphold the law and should be followed. But the Crane guard is the final authority on the law.
