New Statue: Total Triumph

For the third statue in the series, Elize Crane commissioned a scene from the final battle to claim the third district of Bloodworth. Her siblings, Icarus and Sejal, tired after the battle, leaning on each other to recover their strength, standing on a pile of skulls, symbolizing their defeated enemies.

Sadly, Icarus could not attend the reveal, but Elize, Sejal, and Thylia Tawse (from the Ash Crypt) were there to tell the story for an audience of bathers and art enthusiasts.

History

The year was NC97. The Talon district had increasingly fallen into lawlessness as the Talon Federation no longer had the might to control it. Gangs roamed freely even in the Mid-Ward. Worse still, smelling weakness, Arwel of the neighboring district was mobilizing her troops to take it all for herself.

Elize snuck into the Tower Ward before the Talons barricaded themselves in. She offered to rescue Enan Talon and her circle, provided they sell the entire district to the Cranes at a steep discount.

Meanwhile, the Crane mercenaries, led by Icarus and Sejal, and their new Fiend allies, led by Thylia, arrived just in the brink of time. They stormed over the west bridge, and the gangs quickly faltered against a real mercenary army. But at the same time Arwel marched over the east bridge, trapping the gangs between two invading armies. It was a massacre, and the battle only grew more brutal as the two armies finally clashed.

Said to be one of the deadliest conflicts in recent history, the Cranes eventually came out victorious, forcing Arwel to retreat back to her own district.

Arwel later claims she was only trying to help the Talons and the conflict between her forces and the Cranes was a simple misunderstanding. Though the relationship between the two federations has never truly healed.

Enan Talon held to her agreement and sold the district to the Cranes after her rescue. She still lives in the district and works in the great library. “My calling was never to rule, that was my brother’s ambition. Without him, the federation was destined to fall.”

And so it was that, at a mere 84 years old, the Cranes became the youngest federation to rule a district in one of the major cities on the Red Coast.

Bathhouse Factoid: The Kini

Did you know the dress worn by staff in the bath is called a kini? It’s based on a traditional dress of the Amber Elves in the west, chosen for its exotic appearance as well as being light and airy, perfect for the humid air of the bathhouse.

You can tell the role of workers in the bath by the color of the clothes they are wearing.

Attendants

The ones you’ll see the most. They are the customer-facing staff that work to make your stay is as pleasant as possible. They are in charge of the reception, clothes storage, and serving food and drink. You can also pay a fee for a massage, scrubbing, or a snuggle.

Peacekeepers

Ensure the safety of everyone in the baths. They are the only ones allowed to be armed and are allowed to use force, should you cause trouble. While their uniform also includes both gambeson pants and a breastplate, most working in the baths choose to only use the gambeson coat due to the heat.

Custodians

In charge of maintaining the proper state of the baths. Their tasks involve scrubbing the floors, cleaning the baths, repairs, maintaining the gardens, and caring for the art.

Chefs

Chefs, bakers, butchers, tea boilers, jarists (of the pickle cellar), and other kitchen staff all work to give you the very best food and drink Bloodworth has to offer.

Basement Workers

The staff that aren’t normally seen in the baths but are essential to its operation. They receive goods and wood through the basement entrance, stoke the furnaces that heat the baths, wash the laundry, and operate the great lift to bring in red water from the sea.

Elize’s Private Staff

The Elves that hold a position within Elize’s residence or work for her in another official manner. Do not bother them.
