Charm and elegance, a true testament of a dignified lifestyle. The Hammerheim fashion is an expression of their rich natural materials, undyed fabrics, and statement-making leather pieces. From a sturdy linen base layer to the finest wool cloak or a snazzy leather jacket, the aesthetic is both raw and refined, an embodiment of the region’s craft-elves, farmers, and merchants’ pride.
Hammerheim Fashion
Dignity, Decorum, Discipline
A Hammerheimer is always put together and proper. If a thing is worth the doing—as the saying goes—it is worth doing in style. Here, no corner is cut, no expense spared, no easy road taken.
The farmers, craft-elves, and merchants of Hammerheim take great pride in their natural resources, which is highly reflected in the enduring fashion of the region. Fabrics are hardly ever dyed, rather they are left natural to show off the quality of the raw material. The style is often worn with a linen base layer and a wool jacket, coat, or cloak on top. Leather makes a perfect show-off piece, be it a dapper jacket, butt-squeezing pants, or a snazzy skirt.
Breeding the most golden takin, growing the finest linen, and hunting the fairest game are all pursuits of greatness. Taming wild beasts has also long been a tradition and a way of life—most notable is, of course, the takin. A stout beast that is herded on the steep slopes along the northern and eastern coast. Besides providing wool and leather, it’s also a major source of food and well known for its cured meats and pungent cheeses.
Beasts are not only tamed for their usefulness, but also as a symbol of status. Pets of all kin compliment their dress, showing off the elf’s skill in taming and caring for the creature. The more rare or dangerous, the greater the respect. The pets are highly loved and considered a part of the elf’s circle, even their equal. A practice that is somewhat controversial in other parts of the cave.
Hammerheim is also known for its excellent silversmiths. Chains, rings, and piercings of silver are common accessories in the higher classes; even circle insignias are made of silver.

Special Feature: The Ravenwood Twins Interview
Maybe the two most well-known Hammerheimers in Bloodworth, Miranda and Bob Ravenwood. Say, how come you two ended up so far from home, Miranda?
“After a few hundred years one does grow bored, even though I love the Hammer and had built quite a comfortable life there, it was time to move on. I think we were both drawn to something bigger, and you don’t get much bigger than Bloodworth.”
“For me it was the challenge. One does not become a legend sitting on one’s ass. Sis wanted to see the Bloodworth court, and to me it seemed as good a place as any to continue my story.
What are the two of you up to now?
“The bathhouse [Pools of Bob] takes up most of my time. We are expanding, knocking out the east wall, and building another steam room. And someone has to keep on top of the quality control, make sure the water, the food, and our… other services, are up to standards. Oh, and my new pickle business; someone has to taste the pickles…
“Ha, sounds like real hard work, Bob. As for me, keeping on top of the court actually takes work. But switching over from Arwel’s court to Crane’s was such a breath of fresh air. I think we can all feel it just walking between the districts that the old federations really do seem antiquated with new blood in the city.
I told you from the very start, didn’t I? These youngsters do got some spunk. To think this district was mostly ruins and crime a mere hundred years ago. I asked Icarus [Crane] for rights to some land as soon as he bought it; that’s how I got such a good spot for the bathhouse.
Ever the business-elf, aren’t you? Speaking of, I, too, run my own circle now. I knew nothing of swords just some dozades ago, but Sejal [Crane] saw to that. She taught me how to duel, and now I sell her collection of swords, among many other weapons. Who would have thought?
I hear you both are in the prestigious “tush of the year” competition. Who will win?
“Is that even a question? Of course, I’m going to take home the title this year too. Who is going to beat me?”
“Don’t be so sure, brother. Even if it’s my first time in the competition, I think quality over quantity will win this time.”
