The unique intersection of silk craft-elf-ship and the powerful elf warrior culture defines Islander Fashion. Signature elements include shimmer silk, a luxurious material with a metallic shine, and practical garments such as the canvas poncho and wide-brimmed rain hats, born out of necessity. The warrior-inspired fashion, designed to display physical prowess, underscores the islands’ reverence for strength above all else.

Smooth Silks, Strong Elves
The islands are perhaps most known for their exquisite silks, with each region having silkworms that produce their own unique color. Depicted above is the maroon silk of Gelf, a common sight in Bloodworth, as it’s the closest island and a big exporter of silk.
A new striking trend is the recently invented shimmer silk that has taken the high society by storm. Produced by feeding quicksilver to silkworms, the resulting silk is soft, stretchy, and has a metallic shine. When worn, the thin cloth makes the elf’s skin look like liquid metal. We do believe this trend might make a splash on the mainland in the coming seasons. (We strongly advise humans avoid wearing or even touching shimmer silk, as it turns out to be highly toxic to them. Not that we expect many humans to afford it.)
On the casual side of fashion, the rugged practical canvas poncho is seen nearly everywhere on the islands. It’s believed to have originated as a garment worn by the workers of the fields, but now even the higher classes use the simple cloth, often in different and novel cuts.
Another very common sight are the wide-brimmed rain hats due to the high frequency of spontaneous rain in the region. The hats are made of woven straw often with a cloth-covered rim and center.
A variant of the hat is the dual-purpose shield hat, made from laminated wood or reeds and a metal rim and boss. These are not as sturdy as proper war shields but are a fine means of self-defense.
The islands, especially towards the east, have a proud warrior culture. When they aren’t fending off pirates, they spend their time training and competing in physical games to measure their strength. This is also reflected in their fashion—when they aren’t in armor, their attire often aim to show off some aspect of their physical prowess. Do you have what it takes wear this style or will we see you at the gymnasium first?
Islander Royals in Bloodworth
The prince and princess of Ryde have been seen wearing very ordinary garments during their extended stay in Bloodworth. Maybe they want to blend into the crowds, or maybe they simply have nothing to prove.
Did you know?
Mixed elf-kin hatchlings are far more common on the islands than on the mainland. Relations between kins have become widespread on the mainland too, but having spawns together, at least in the mid and higher society, is still rare.
On the islands, so many Crimson Elves have Lerna blood in their lineage that it’s more common than not to see the characteristic red streaks in their hair. Even the prince of Ryde is pledged to a Lerna, though he is expected to rule for some hundred years still before giving his soul to hatchlings.
