In this special edition, we are proud to present an exclusive fashion exchange between Crimson and Fiend. With the new north lift, you can now travel directly from the Mid Ward Market to just outside the gates of the Ash Crypt. The top floor of the Crypt is open to outsiders and the long hall, just inside the gates, houses many Fiend merchants.

Fiend Fashion

Fiend Tech

The Fiends’ long seclusion north of the mountains has led to a distinct divergence from other styles. But with a growing community living in Bloodworth, their fashion has begun to turn eyes even from other kins.

On the one hand, the Fiends are a practical and straight-forward people, yet on the other, mysterious and secretive—which is reflected in their attire. Clothing with a purpose, be that to keep dry in bad weather or simply having a pocket for each of your gadgets, is the foundation of the style.

The majority of their clothes are made from the inventive willow fabric, produced from the willow trees that grow in the shadow of the mountains. These trees have tendrils that reach up to feed on the darkness, and the fabric retains this property, making it weightless whenever there is enough darkness around. In addition, the fabric is highly resistant to water, yet still breathable enough to keep the wearer at the right temperature. Together this makes the willow cloth unbeatable when it comes to traveling or skulking in the dark.

Willow can be turned into fabric of varying thickness for different purposes. The thin, “lofty” fabric is used to make airy, loose-fitting garments that takes full advantage of being weightless, while the thickest “hard-edge” fabric is stiff and used to make outer garments that keep their boxy shapes as well as offer significant protection from both weather and weapon.

Other practical features are also often found of these clothes: pockets, hidden compartments, dangly straps and attachment points for gear, or even more pockets.

Visit the Ash Crypt!

The big ominous gate on the side of the cliff in the Low Ward, you can’t miss it.

Note: Fiend law applies in the Crypt. Stealing, unjustified murder, and acts of poetry will be punished with utmost diligence and without mercy. There is a good reason why even the worst gangs of the Low Ward (and bards) stay well clear of the Crypt’s gate.

Did you know?

The Ash Crypt was found under the city, in what is now the deepest corner of the Low Ward, when the Talon Federation was building the foundation of the first spire in the district. The enormous gate on the cliff-face was excavated by Adan Talon. But when opened, an avalanche of ash and bones welled forth from the gate burying Adan and several bystanders alive. Enan Talon deemed the crypt cursed and sealed it shut after her brother’s death.

It was only after the Crane Federation bought the district, almost a thousand years later, that the gate was opened again. It is speculated the Fiends made a deal with Icarus Crane to help pay for the district in exchange for the Crypt.

The upper floors have been cleared of ash, and the Crypt now holds the largest population of Fiends on the Red Coast. How deep the tunnels go or why they are filled with ash remains unknown, but the excavation continues still to this flame.

The ground floor, with the long hall and the altar complex, is open to outsiders, but the deeper chambers are only accessible to Fiends.
